Deputy SENCO job summary

Working 25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term-time)

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and motivated individual to join the team, where you'll support students’ learning and personal development, including those with special needs. Use your creativity and organisational skills to deliver tailored support, foster independence, and make a real difference in a vibrant school community committed to excellence and inclusion.

The successful candidate will deputise for and assist the SENCO in the daily operational duties of the SEND team. Have line management responsibility for a team of teaching assistants/support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation of paperwork for all Annual Reviews
  • Organise and oversee ADPR and SSA paperwork
  • Organise and co-ordinate non-mainstream provision for some students
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and SEND team in order to achieve effective provision including cover
  • Maintain the SEND register and other records in line with Code of Practice

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educated to A level, HNC or equivalent, or able to evidence ability at an equivalent level
  • Knowledge of relevant technical area including, where appropriate, relevant practical skills and relevant qualifications at Level 3 or 4
  • Competence with IT tools, strong communication, and organisational skills.
  • Physical ability to handle manual tasks and work collaboratively.
