Batley Multi Academy Trust’s sole purpose is to provide a great education for Primary and Secondary learners throughout a local family of schools. The Trust is passionately committed to the communities of Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury and our surrounding areas, serving our local learners and their families in order to secure excellent educational outcomes, partnered with high aspirations. Batley Multi Academy Trust currently comprises Batley Girls’ High School, Upper Batley High School, Batley Grammar School, Healey Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Field Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School and Manorfield Infant and Nursery School. We provide high quality education for all young people. This collaboration enables us to share expertise, knowledge and best practice to ensure academic and pastoral excellence throughout all of our schools, with all schools embracing the same overall ethos and values, whilst maintaining their own unique characters.

Batley Grammar School is a “good school” (Ofsted Oct 2018) and we continue our school improvement journey to become an outstanding school. We aim to combine our traditional ethos and culture together with a modern approach to teaching and learning. Visitors regularly comment about the friendly atmosphere and calm, purposeful learning environment being quite palpable. “Staff are proud of their school ….”; “It is a place where pupils can indeed ‘believe, grow and succeed”; “Pupils are committed to learning, they are respectful in classrooms and they try their best”; “Your school is a calm place to be, and a happy place to learn”. (Ofsted October 2018) At Batley Grammar School we value staff who take pride in their work and who are willing to contribute fully to the life of the school including its extra-curricular programme.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, articulate and enthusiastic Deputy Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator. The post holder will work with staff and young people across our primary and secondary phases of education to ensure all young people make progress based on their starting points. The Deputy SENDCo will lead and model best practice, and monitor and evaluate the quality of provision for all aspects of SEND.

The successful applicant will have QTS and be an inspirational teacher and leader; have experience working in a SENDCo role at a senior level; hold the National Award for SEND Coordination Qualification and be an excellent communicator with a child centered approach to education, and have developed, persuasive, influencing and networking skills. A flexible ‘can do’ attitude is essential, as is the ability to provide the very best levels of service to the school’s stakeholders for the benefit of all our young people.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive forward thinking Trust, who in return for your commitment and hard work, will support you to achieve your own career goals and aspirations.
