DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY TEACHER

with the option to combine with Subject Leader for Careers

Teachers Pay Scale (plus TLR2b if the Careers role is included)

0.4fte (or 0.56 with Careers)

Start date:  Easter 2024 (although January is also an option)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher to join our Design & Technology Department.  D&T is a very popular option at Roundwood Park, and has a high profile right across the school, as you will see if you visit or from our website. You can learn more about our particular areas of strength in Design & Technology from our website https://roundwoodpark.co.uk/design-technology/

The successful applicant will be teaching at KS3 on a carousel, so the ability to teach all D&T disciplines will be useful (but not absolutely essential). There may also be the opportunity to teach Design and Technology at GCSE.

The current teacher is also our Subject Leader for Careers, and there is the opportunity to apply for this post too (although applications may be submitted for the D&T role as a stand-alone).    This role is a TLR2b, with a higher than usual allocation of four hours of management time because of the range of activities that require to be overseen (so 0.56fte if combined with the 0.4 D&T teaching post).   The job description for the Careers role is attached; in terms of a person specification the key requirements are:   a strong interest in labour market developments and trends, including education and training paths; very sound organisational skills; excellent communication skills.   When you apply, please make it clear in your personal statement whether you are applying for the teaching vacancy alone, or together with the Careers TLR.

We offer a comprehensive induction and development programme for all new staff. Roundwood Park prides itself in identifying talent and developing its staff.

Visits are very much encouraged before you apply.  If you would like to visit, please contact Ian Stowe, HR Manager, on 01582 714031 or email i.stowe@roundwoodpark.co.uk

We are committed to the safeguarding and promotion of children’s welfare. We also have a sincere commitment to equal opportunity and to the celebration of diversity, including in our staff recruitment. We welcome applications from all sections of our community very warmly, and we recognise the huge strength and opportunity that comes from diversity in all aspects of our make-up. We will need to obtain references in advance of interview for any candidate short- listed, and all job offers are subject to satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance.
