JOB DESCRIPTION
Main Purpose of Post:
To support the smooth running of Design & Technology within the Vocational and Creative Industries faculty: preparing teaching resources, maintaining equipment and the teaching environment to ahigh standard, and supporting the teachers in lessons, all of which enhances the learning experience for students.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Daily/Lesson Preparation
- Prepare resources as required by the subject teachers prior to lessons
- Ensure workshop equipment is kept in optimum condition and stored correctly
- Organise extra equipment for lessons
- Regularly maintain the equipment and tools in the workshop and classroom areas
- Assist Design & Technology staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning.
Maintenance Duties
- Ensure that workshop machinery and equipment is regularly inspected and maintained
Learning and Teaching support
- Support demonstrations of techniques for pupils when required
- Work alongside teachers in supporting the creation of projects
- Work one-to-one with select students to aid their progress within Design & Technology
- Maintain the display boards within the faculty
Ordering
- Manage the ordering of consumables and materials in an organised and timely fashion toenhance the smooth running of the faculty
- Take delivery of stores and materials, making arrangements for their general storage andundertaking general porterage duties
Other Duties
- Keep all store/prep rooms/classrooms in a clean and tidy condition and free from hazards
- Prioritise workload as directed by the Line Manager
- Maintain good working communication with the Line Manager
- Attend all health and safety training courses as determined by the management of the school
- Work collaboratively with our Food Technician and be prepared to undertake activities to support them in the kitchen on occasion
- Maintain confidentiality at all times in respect of school related matters.
- Use social media to promote the faculty and subject - whilst observing GDPR and safeguarding
- Collate articles about work done in the Faculty and share these with the Admin Team for the School newsletter
- Provide basic IT support across the Vocational and Creative Industries Faculty to include resetting student passwords and basic maintenance checks of PCs and laptops daily. No IT experience is required as full training will be provided.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Line Manager or teaching
