We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and engaging teacher to our Design team. Our Design faculty believes in giving all students an outstanding Design and Technology experience. We aim to create a practical environment that provides the opportunity and support students need to achieve success.

The Design and Technology Faculty is staffed with 9 skilled and enthusiastic team members who are passionate about teaching their subject and supported by two technicians who work alongside students in classrooms as well as providing preparation and administrative support. The faculty has outstanding facilities maintaining traditional equipment alongside modern technological developments. Every student has access to ICT with access to a variety of CAD software and CNC machines including 4 laser cutters and 10 3D printers. These facilities are well utilised at KS3 where students complete a rotation of subjects including those outlined below complemented by Computer Aided Design.

Design and Technology at Ashby is a very popular option subject at Key Stage 4 and offers Resistant Materials, Food Science, Engineering and Textiles (through the Art specification). At Key Stage 5 this leads to Product Design 3D, Textiles, Engineering and Food which are again very popular options.

The faculty also offer a range of extra-curricular activities both in and out of school such as engineering trips to the Young Designer Competition and engagement in the F1. The faculty also offer extra support and intervention for those students not making the expected progress.

If you are a motivated, hard-working, inspirational teacher and a highly skilled team player, you will be a welcome addition to our team. We also have a TLR available for an appropriately qualified and experienced candidate.

We are proud of the work we do at Ashby School: if you are passionate about your subject, share our enthusiasm for teaching and learning and are seeking to develop your practice in a supportive and dynamic school, we would be delighted to hear from you.
