📍 Location: Ellesmere Park High School
💰 Salary: Grade 5 SCP 8-12 (£24,038 - £25,628 actual salary)
Contract and Working Pattern: 36 hours, Term Time plus 5 days
📅 Start Date: November 2025

Join our vibrant, inclusive, and proud community

At Ellesmere Park High School, our motto Vibrant, Inclusive, Proud isn’t just words - it’s lived every day by our students and staff. As two of our Year 10 students recently put it:

“From our first day in Year 7 to now, we’ve experienced nothing but a welcoming community who are always there to support you. Whenever you ask a student or staff member what their favourite part of school is, their answer will always be the people.”
— Abigail & Mae, Year 10

We are looking for a Design Technology Technician to join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting learning across our DT and wider STEM departments. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a technical background, a passion for education, and a commitment to helping young people thrive.

About the role

As our new Design Technology Technician, you will:

  • Prepare lesson resources and equipment to support engaging and practical learning.
  • Maintain, service, and repair machinery and tools, ensuring everything is safe and in excellent working order.
  • Manage stock, order resources, and liaise with suppliers.
  • Support teachers and students during practical lessons, helping to create a safe and inspiring learning environment.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH (training provided).

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same - you’ll be setting up workshops, supporting lessons, and making sure our students have the best opportunities to learn and succeed.

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking someone who has:

  • A background in a technology-based subject and a technical, problem-solving mindset.
  • Experience of working with young people (desirable, but not essential).
  • Good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • The ability to relate well to both students and adults.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, safety, and inclusion.

Relevant qualifications such as a Small Tools Qualification, Health & Safety, or COSHH training would be advantageous - but training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

Why join Ellesmere Park High School?

  • A warm, welcoming school community where staff and students support each other.
  • A culture that values professional development - with CPD, Trust-wide networks, and training opportunities.
  • A school that is oversubscribed and celebrated within the local community.
  • The chance to work in a vibrant, inclusive environment where every child is valued as an individual.

As one of our teachers shared:

“I knew I wanted to be a part of the Ellesmere community when I came for a visit before my interview. I was greeted with warmth and kindness from staff and students alike. It truly is a fantastic place to be, and I’m proud to say I work at EPHS.”
— Alice, Head of D&T
