Principal Responsibilities:
Art, Design & Technology Technician
1.Carry out maintenance of machinery and equipment (including security and accident/hazard spotting) to ensure all Health and Safety Regulations are met, reporting where necessary problems to Estates Manager and/or Deputy Curriculum Lead of A,D & T.
2.Ensure safe storage, treatment and disposal of equipment and materials, monitor the condition of labels on products and electrical apparatus, taking account of safety procedures and COSHH regulations to ensure safety of the pupils and staff.
3.Carry out risk assessments for technician activities.
4.Assist in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations, preparing resources, assembling apparatus. Provide practical support and guidance for school staff in the use of materials, workshop techniques, practices and processes and recommend solutions to technical problems encountered.
5.Take a lead role in the design, development, and maintenance of specialist resources and offer professional guidance, assistance and support to pupils and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum.
6.Set up monitoring systems used in the management and control of practical resources including stock control and financial records. Provide guidance and recommendation for the identification, specification and purchase of school design and technology materials and equipment.
7.Take the lead role within the department on both routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing and repairing of equipment to the required standards.
8.Promote the observance of a safe and healthy working environment and provide advice on health and safety issues to technical staff, teachers and students.
9.Advise on the development of systems and procedures so that the work of the Design and Technology Faculty may be carried out to best effect.
10.Provide support in other areas to facilitate the smooth running of the school.

Experience - Essential
-Time served apprenticeship in a mechanical/electrical discipline.

-Previous experience in a school or education field.

- Knowledge of H&S legislation.
