Are you passionate about student welfare and ready to take the lead in safeguarding? Cottenham Village College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our committed team and play a vital role in shaping a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment.

About the Role

As a senior member of staff, you will be at the heart of our safeguarding provision—ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. From identifying barriers to learning to working closely with families and external agencies, your leadership will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage safeguarding systems and protocols across the school
  • Identify and assess individual barriers to learning and wellbeing
  • Develop and implement strategies in collaboration with staff, families, and external partners
  • Ensure timely and effective communication and information sharing within and beyond the school
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding policies, procedures, and legislation
  • Experience working with safeguarding agencies and managing disclosures
  • A strong track record of handling a wide range of pastoral issues
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills

The college was established in 1963, one of several village colleges in the region that were the inspiration of educational pioneer Henry Morris, who believed that the school should be at the heart of its community and that education should be a lifelong process.
