Designated Safeguarding Lead job summary

We are looking for a new Designated Safeguarding Lead to join our team. We our open to anyone who has a genuine commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment for young people in our school and the connected community.

You will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team, taking lead responsibility for safeguarding and child protection and providing advice and support to DSL deputies and colleagues throughout the school.

Pay Range: Grade D - £24,318.09 - £26,814.03 Actual (40 weeks)

Actual salary dependent upon experience within the stated range

Working Hours: 37 hours, Term time only, INSET days + 1 Week (40 working weeks)

Days & Weeks: Monday - Thursday 08:00-16:00 and Friday 08:00-15:30

What skills and experience are required

You will need to have robust knowledge of safeguarding practice and experience in managing and acting on concerns. You will like children and want to work in a genuinely diverse community. This requires enthusiasm, compassion and patience; school life is the most rewarding place to work but can also be very challenging.

This is a vital role where you will be supporting our Looked After and Previously Looked After Children and their careers. You will be liaising with their Social Workers and the Virtual School to ensure optimal outcomes. Outstanding written and verbal communication and competent IT skills are essential for this role. You will need to be happy to learn how to chair meetings and complete the required paperwork. In addition, you will be a part of the Safeguarding Team, assisting a range of pupils in need of additional wellbeing support.
