Director of Attendance and Safeguarding job summary

Permanent, Full Time, Full Year

Based in our Central Trust Office, Harrogate, with travel to RKLT schools as required. Hybrid working available.

We are looking for an outstanding and driven leader to join our Trust as Director of Attendance and Safeguarding. In this key senior role, you will work closely with the CEO, Headteachers and Trust leaders to maintain exemplary safeguarding standards and to lead improvements in pupil attendance across all our schools.

You will play a central role in shaping and delivering our Trust-wide approach to safeguarding and attendance, fostering a culture of vigilance, high expectations and shared responsibility, and supporting school leaders to secure sustained improvement in pupil safety, wellbeing and engagement.

About You

You will be someone with the ability to:

  • Provide strategic leadership to strengthen safeguarding practice and improve attendance outcomes across our Trust
  • Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high-quality, compliant and effective safeguarding and attendance processes
  • Design and deliver a coherent Trust-wide strategy for attendance and safeguarding, including high-quality training and professional development
  • Oversee safeguarding compliance and practice, ensuring alignment with statutory guidance and best practice
  • Use data effectively to identify trends, risks and priority groups, ensuring timely and impactful intervention
  • Foster collaboration across schools and with external partners to support vulnerable pupils and families
