Director of English job summary
Cornwall Education Learning Trust (CELT) is seeking an exceptional leader to become our Director of English, shaping the future of English across five thriving secondary schools in the heart of mid-Cornwall. This unique role combines strategic influence with a strong classroom presence, balancing Trust-wide leadership with departmental leadership in one school. At CELT, collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, and this post offers the chance to work closely with talented colleagues to design and deliver a knowledge-rich, ambitious curriculum that inspires students and secures excellent outcomes. The successful candidate will lead on curriculum innovation, staff development and assessment practice, ensuring that all young people benefit from high-quality teaching and learning in English. They will foster a culture of professional growth, supporting and empowering Heads of English and their teams, while working in partnership with primary and post-16 colleagues to provide a coherent learning journey from early years through to further education. With a proven track record of leading teams to outstanding outcomes, a deep understanding of curriculum design and pedagogy, and the ability to inspire others, the new Director of English will play a pivotal role in driving improvement and shaping the educational success of our students.
