This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner who is eager to step into — or further develop — a significant leadership role. This position encompasses a unique opportunity to lead and develop the English Department, whilst holding leadership responsibilities. The appointee would also be part of the HAT Education Team and provide expert advice across the trust. We are looking to appoint the best person for this position; therefore exact areas of additional responsibility will be open for negotiation.
As our Director of English, you will:
- Lead a skilled and enthusiastic team to raise and maintain high levels of attainment and progress
- Shape and deliver a rich, inclusive curriculum from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.
- Drive innovative teaching practice, enrichment opportunities and personalised intervention.
- Use data intelligently to secure excellent outcomes for students across all abilities.
- Contribute to wider trust initiatives, building strong collaborative relationships with colleagues across phases.
- Undertake specific leadership responsibilities (to be negotiated with the successful applicant) and would be a member of the HAT Education Team

About Hampton College
Hampton College is an established all-through school (ages 4-19) located in Hampton Vale, Peterborough. It sits within Hampton Academies Trust (HAT) and works closely with neighbouring schools such as Hampton Gardens and Hampton Lakes.
Opened in 2005, the school has grown to serve over 1,620 students across both primary and secondary phases, including a thriving Sixth Form. Our facilities include specialist teaching spaces, a large Sixth Form Centre, and a learning environment that supports academic excellence as well as personal development.

The Department
The English Department at Hampton College are a strong, experienced team of nine members of staff who have innovative practice and a love of learning at the heart of their agenda. Many members of the department also hold other areas of responsibly within the school. The department encourages collaboration that has fostered a supportive environment for its teaching staff. Lessons are planned to ensure the development of all students, as well as with the intent to inspire further learning. Students are excited by the subject because of the modern and relevant material we are able to offer them. We have a wide range of texts available, and we are constantly updating our stock cupboard to ensure that teaching staff are able to teach texts that they and the students love. ICT is used in the department to enhance students’ progress and is an area that is constantly being developed.
At GCSE, students study AQA’s English Language and English Literature. At Key Stage 4, our results in the last few years have been among some of the best in the school. At KS5, we offer both AQA English Literature B and the English Literature and Language combined A-Level that are both popular choices with our students.

Hampton College is an established, successful, all-through school, which formed its own multi-academy trust (Hampton Academies Trust - HAT) in 2014. The Trust is also the education provider for the neighbouring secondary school, Hampton Gardens School and Hampton Lakes Primary School, which opened in September 2019. In 2020, Dogsthorpe Infant School joined our trust. HAT schools have very close links and some shared staff.
Hampton College currently serves the community of Hampton, on the southern outskirts of the city of Peterborough and has good links to Cambridge and Stamford. Hampton Gardens School serves the neighbouring Cambridgeshire village of Yaxley, as well new housing being added to the Hampton East development, where Hampton Lakes Primary School is located.

TEACHER OF GEOGRAPHY
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher with a passion for Geography, on a full-time basis.
You will be expected to contribute to the continued development of the Department’s curriculum. You should be able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues as well as having good organisational skills.
You should be a reflective practitioner, interested in developing your practice and trying out new strategies in your teaching. You will already be, at least, a competent user of ICT, and happy to learn more. Above all, we wish to appoint an imaginative and enthusiastic teacher, who will be keen to work alongside a team determined to create an excellent department and one keen to develop excellent relationships with students and staff.
You will have a passion for working with young people and you will relish the satisfaction that comes from helping them to develop and to learn. The successful candidate will, of course, be an important part of the department and can expect the support needed to develop their career further but will also be expected to:
