What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Director of Finance and Chief Financial Officer to join the University of Brighton Academies Trust to support us in inspiring our children and staff to flourish and achieve their best.

You will be part of our Executive Team and report directly to the Deputy Chief Executive: Chief Operating Officer. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of our Financial strategies and plans in support of our shared mission, vision and values and the Trust Strategy 2023-2028. You will work strategically and have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to influence critical decision making and communicate effectively across our stakeholders.

Your significant experience in business process development and ability to harness new and changing technology will play a key role in a major change project focused on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of all of our administrative and operational processes across the Trust and our academies.

Your finance and accounting expertise will be crucial to ensuring the continued financial sustainability of the Trust, supporting our 14 academies and 7 departments to address the financial challenges within the education sector, as well as supporting the establishment of a brand new innovative all-through primary and secondary school for children and young people in West Sussex, The Bedelands Academy.

We are a growing organisation with over 1200 staff, nearly 8000 children and an annual £50million+ budget, and you will lead our Finance department across its financial control, financial management and procurement functions.
