The Pocklington School Foundation is looking to appoint an exceptional Director of Marketing, Admissions & Communication to lead its External Relations team and strategy. The Pocklington School Foundation consists of a thriving independent co-educational and boarding School and Prep School, as well as the recently opened Little Pips Nursery, all situated in a beautiful country campus 12 miles east of York. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the future of the Foundation. The External Relations strategy will be key to further building The Pocklington School Foundation’s current outstanding reputation whilst identifying opportunities for new initiatives and a dynamic approach.

Reporting directly to the Head, this is a key strategic leadership position responsible for six core areas: Marketing, Admissions, Communications, Alumni Relations, Fundraising and Public Benefit. The successful candidate will be an experienced and inspirational leader, with a track record in successful marketing and communications, capable of developing and delivering innovative strategies that enhance the Foundation’s reputation, increase pupil recruitment, and strengthen relationships across its community.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver a dynamic and innovative long-term marketing and pupil recruitment strategy aligned with the Foundation’s vision and values.

Lead and oversee the admissions process, ensuring a first-class experience from enquiry to enrolment for both UK and international students, including the tracking of all enquiries, and utilisation of collected data to inform future strategic direction.

Manage and enhance the Foundation brand across all communications, publications, media engagement, and digital platforms, including the professional development of Foundation staff as needed to best support this.

Build strong relationships with feeder schools, our nursery, recruitment agents, alumni, donors, and the wider community, and energise the external relations team to do the same.

Drive fundraising and development initiatives to generate additional voluntary income streams.

Lead, develop and inspire the external relations team covering marketing, admissions, communications, alumni relations, digital engagement and administration.

The Successful Candidate:

We are looking for a highly motivated, creative and strategic leader who can demonstrate:

A proven track record in dynamic and innovative marketing, admissions and communications

Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to develop and inspire a multi-disciplinary team.

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, with confidence in engaging a wide range of stakeholders.

A commercial mindset with experience of fundraising, business development, and income generation.

The vision and energy to proactively promote The Pocklington School Foundation locally, nationally and internationally.
