What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and musician to lead our Music department and extra curricular music.
You will have knowledge and experience to teach Music GCSE and A'Level to the highest level, in addition to running a diverse range of ensembles. The ability to play the piano to a good standard in order to accompany students is very important.
The department is committed to achieving the highest possible standards in both academic and extra-curricular Music. This post will provide the opportunity to inspire and lead musically motivated students through the school's rich programme of opportunities as you contribute to the busy extra-curricular life of our school, as well as the regular liturgies.
We have a very strong reputation for the quality and breath of our musical life, ensembles perform regularly throughout the year and our Music Scholars play a prominent role in school life.

Brentwood Ursuline is a popular and successful oversubscribed girls' Catholic school with a co-educational Sixth Form and benefit from a motivated and friendly staff community. Every member of the teaching staff is provided with an induction programme to support and enhance teaching and learning and have access to excellent programmes of professional development overseen by a dedicated member of SLT.
We annually have members of staff enrolled on National Professional Qualifications at different levels and we run a secondment to SLT each year.
Leadership and Management has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in our last two inspections.

Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School is a Roman Catholic state secondary for girls aged 11-16 with a co-educational Sixth Form, situated in Brentwood, Essex. In 2012 it became an academy; the Bishop, the chair of governors and the Diocesan directors are the trustees. The school was founded in 1900 by Mother Clare, the first Superior of the Brentwood Ursulines. It was established as two schools – St Philomena’s, for poorer children, and St Mary’s – which merged in 1918. As the school grew, new buildings were added. Brentwood Ursuline Convent High School now has nearly 1,200 pupils, of which 190 are sixth-form students.
