Director of Quality Assurance and School Improvement (DQASI) job summary
Flying High Partnership is seeking an exceptional Director of Quality Assurance and School Improvement to join our Education Leadership Team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to influence education at scale and support leaders across a large and high performing partnership of schools. Flying High Partnership currently includes 38 primary schools across Nottinghamshire, Nottingham, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. Our ambition is simple and bold. We want to develop unique, exceptional and sustainable schools that change lives and strengthen communities. We are proud of our track record which includes strong outcomes above national averages at every key stage and 49 Ofsted inspections all good or better with eight outstanding in the last two years.
The Education Team model of working is built around the 4Cs. The team provides support and challenge to leaders, fostering excellence within their schools. This is achieved through developing consistency, which is built on clarity and delivered with confidence, all taking place on a foundation of genuine care. We are now seeking an experienced strategic school leader to join our team of three DQASIs working alongside our Director of Education to drive and shape Partnership wide improvement.
Your role
As Director of Quality Assurance and School Improvement you will:
- Lead school improvement across an allocated group of schools ensuring that each one thrives within its unique context.
- Provide the right balance of support and challenge, to Headteachers and leadership teams, so they can secure excellence every day.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Education Team, working with the 4Cs approach to drive clarity, consistency, confidence and care.
- Lead areas within the Partnership wide Education strategy, aligned to areas of strength and expertise
- Line management of members of the Education team, including appraisal.
- Work closely with our System Leaders, Headteacher Plus, Lead Practitioners, the Inclusion Team and senior leaders across the partnership.
- Support Trustee reporting, strategic planning and alignment of school improvement priorities.
- Shape the development of leaders at all levels, strengthening capacity and ensuring sustainable improvement across our schools.

- Is an inspirational primary Headteacher with a strong track record of school improvement
- Has proven experience of school-to-school support and system leadership
- Brings deep knowledge, insight and understanding of the national educational landscape
- A deep commitment to the vision and values of Flying High and exemplify our staff cultural expectations.
- Is outward facing and committed to keeping Flying High at the forefront of effective practice
- Can expertly balance support and challenge to get the very best from others
- Is a reflective practitioner, committed to growth and continuous learning
- Is able to build trust, nurture leadership capacity and inspire belief in what is possible
- Brings authenticity, good humour, resilience and a willingness to roll up their sleeves
