Director of Safeguarding & Attendance job summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Safeguarding & Attendance to join our executive team at Horizons Education Trust. In this essential role, you will oversee the strategic leadership of safeguarding practices and attendance management across our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) academies, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and educational access of all learners.
As the Director of Safeguarding & Attendance, you will work closely with executive leaders, headteachers, academy staff and external partners to develop, implement, and monitor effective safeguarding protocols, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and best practices. You will be instrumental in fostering a robust culture of vigilance and care, creating a safe and inclusive environment for our pupils.
In addition, you will also lead on attendance strategy, driving initiatives to improve pupil attendance, reduce persistent absenteeism, and support engagement with families to promote positive attendance outcomes.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in safeguarding, a thorough understanding of attendance management in an educational setting, and a passion for protecting vulnerable learners.
