Director of Science
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Director of Science to join our successful team. We are seeking an innovative and motivational leader with excellent subject knowledge and the desire and commitment to raise achievement of students at all levels. The requirement will be to teach Science across KS3, KS4 and KS5. We are looking for a passionate and inspirational professional who would enjoy working in an exciting and rewarding environment and are prepared to contribute fully to school life.

The Marches School is a successful, forward-thinking 11-18 Academy, with 1,420 students currently on roll. Located in the attractive border town of Oswestry, the school enjoys a semi-rural location, within walking distance of the town centre. In 2013, The Marches opened its doors to the school's first ever Sixth Formers and now delivers a broad range of A-Levels and boasts modern, spacious Sixth Form Facilities.

Essential educational requirements
Degree level (or equivalent) qualification
QTS (Secondary age range)
Further professional qualification e.g. Leadership Pathways, NPQSL
Essential skills and experience
Teaching in comprehensive school(s) across the age and ability range.
Motivating students and enabling them to enjoy learning.
Involvement in the development of curriculum materials.
Involvement in the administration of a department.
Experience of leadership and management.
Evidence of implementing change with impact on outcomes and engagement.
Set standards for staff and students by personal example of hard work and charismatic teaching.
Show commitment to meeting the needs of students.
Lead staff in an informed and sensitive manner.
Initiate curriculum planning.
Involve staff in the process of curriculum development and assessment for learning.
Set targets for staff, and help them to evaluate their work in a way that develops their confidence.
See tasks undertaken through to completion.
Ability to use ICT effectively to promote high quality teaching.
Experience of an integrated or creative curriculum
Evidence of CPD to enhance leadership skills
