Director of SEN job summary
Internal Secondment Vacancy - Director of SEN
From 1st September 2025 – 31st August 2026
Salary: Leadership Spine point will be based on experience
Chiltern Way Academy Trust wishes to appoint an exceptional SENCo to lead to SEN department as the Director of SEN on a Secondment basis. This will be an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, experienced individual to take the next step in their CWAT journey. You must be an experienced SENDCo and as part of the whole Academy Trust, help shape the Trust and lead on all SEN initiatives. You will be based at our Wendover Campus.
You will work as part of the Executive Leadership Team to provide professional leadership for the Trust and ensure that our vision and mission are embedded in everything we do. It is essential that the successful candidate has the ability to lead, support and motivate staff members and build good relationships with stakeholders, students and staff along with a personal history of successful involvement in educational and operational management.
You will:
To provide direction for the Trust’s SEND team and ensure the provision of high standards of teaching, support, intervention and guidance to help students overcome barriers to learning and engagement.
To provide strategic leadership of the provision for students with special educational needs (SEN) across the CWAT in order to ensure that these students make excellent progress
To oversee the leadership, management and effectively deployment of staff and resources within the SEN provision to ensure EHCP targets are being met across CWAT.
To support and oversee campus Sencos for them lead, monitor and evaluate the development of learning and teaching strategies for students with specific SEN.
To ensure that staff are provided with relevant information and training relating to the support of these students.
Be responsible at Trust level to ensure that paperwork relating to students with SEN meets statutory
requirements, including EHCP’s and Annual Reviews.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated measurable positive achievement as a classroom practitioner, Exceptional SENCO Leader and evidence of wider success across school life.
