What skills and experience we're looking for
Key Skills and Experience
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification, with specialism in Drama or Performing Arts.
Strong Subject Knowledge Deep understanding of drama techniques, performance theory, devising and scripted work. Experience with curriculum planning and assessment in line with national standards.
Creative Lesson Planning Ability to design engaging, inclusive, and imaginative lessons that promote participation, expression, and skill development.
Classroom Management Skills Capable of managing behaviour positively and creating a safe, respectful environment for performance and collaboration.
Experience of Extra-Curricular Activities Involvement in school productions, drama clubs, or enrichment activities is highly desirable.
Assessment and Feedback Skilled in assessing practical and theoretical work, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress.
Collaborative Approach Willingness to work with colleagues across departments (e.g. English, Music) and contribute to the wider school community.
Personal Qualities
Creativity and Imagination Able to inspire a love for the performing arts and motivate pupils to express themselves.
Excellent Communication Skills Clear, confident communicator with pupils, parents and colleagues.
Enthusiasm and Energy A lively and engaging presence in the classroom and during rehearsals or performances.
Adaptability Able to tailor teaching approaches to suit different ages, abilities and learning styles.
Empathy and Patience Supportive and encouraging, particularly for pupils who may lack confidence or experience in performance.
Commitment to Inclusion Passion for ensuring all pupils, regardless of background or ability, have access to high-quality arts education.
