Fred Nicholson School is a Complex Needs School for pupils with a wide range of needs, including moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as social interaction and communication difficulties. In April 2026, we expanded to offer provision from Early Years through to Year 13. All pupils have an EHCP and access a curriculum adapted to suit needs ranging from early developmental levels through to KS4 and Post-16 accreditations. 

The Role 

We are seeking a specialist to lead and deliver our Design & Technology, Art, and Food Technology provision. You will be: 

  • An outstanding practitioner with a thorough understanding of modifying the curriculum to meet different learning needs. 
  • Responsible for managing a safe, inspirational workshop and kitchen environment. 
  • Experienced in or knowledgeable of entry-level qualifications, such as Arts Award, to celebrate pupil achievement. 
  • A collaborative team player, working with our multidisciplinary team to prepare young people for the next stage of their lives. 
  • Technically Qualified: You must hold the relevant DT teacher training and certifications required to operate specialist equipment and write robust risk assessments.
