What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a flexible, dynamic and knowledgeable technician to support learning within all areas of Design & Technology, including Resistant Materials, Textiles and Food Technology at Harrogate High School. You will work 25 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.15am until 1.15pm (working times may change based on timetable needs).


Your main tasks will consist of:

Preparing lesson resources to aide teachers in lesson delivery

Maintaining levels of tidiness and hygiene across the 3 specialist classrooms (Kitchen, Workshop and Textiles)

Assisting in the maintenance and organisation of stock and equipment

Providing support/demonstrations within practical lessons

Following the maintenance schedule for equipment and carrying out basic repairs where possible


You will be independent and organised with the ability to take initiative to best support teachers and students within the Design Technology department. You will have relevant experience or an interest in an element of the subject (Product Design, Hospitality & Catering or Textiles). You will be willing to complete training within school to attain DATA training certificates for workshop machinery and other relevant safety certificates. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to relate well to students and staff of all levels


The successful candidate will have an awareness of safeguarding procedures within school and have had experience appropriate to working with children.

Workload • Maintained the early 2.30pm finish to allow for staff to leave site, supporting commitments such as childcare and dependents.
