DT Technician (Materials) job summary

Permanent, Part-time (18 hours per week, Term Time Only plus 2 INSET days)

Are you passionate about supporting young people to develop practical skills in food and nutrition? Do you have a keen eye for safety, organisation, and detail?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Design & Technology Technician to join our friendly and supportive DT department. This key role will primarily involve supporting resistant materials, helping to ensure that classes run smoothly, safely, and effectively. There may also be occasional support required in food.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing equipment and resources for practical DT lessons

  • Maintaining DT rooms including workshops to high standards of hygiene and safety

  • Ordering and managing stock and supplies

  • Supporting staff and students during practical lessons

  • Being responsible for the checking and maintaining of equipment

  • Assisting with general departmental technical duties as needed

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in a practical or technical environment

  • Understands health & safety requirements

  • Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently

  • Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting students’ learning
