Thomas Whitehead became an Academy on 1st April 2017 as part of the Diocese of St Albans Multi Academy Trust. The Academy has an on-site nursery taking children from 3 years of age.
We are seeking to appoint a Early Years Teaching Assistant (NVQ level 2/3 qualification) who will work within our Early years as part of a supportive team to ensure the care of individual or groups of children, to support their learning and development and ensure their safety. Experience of working with children aged 3-5 years old and excellent communication skills are essential.
The role is varied and will involve:
- Assisting with the care of children in the Nursery and Reception classes.
- Encouraging and supporting children’s development
- Planning different activities (messy play, role play and story time etc)
- Encouraging exploration
- Supporting language development
- Maintaining a child friendly environment
- The ability to engage and build strong relationships with children
