What skills and experience we're looking for

The role of Early Years ASD Specialist Base Teacher is a very exciting opportunity to be part of our provision for children with social and communication difficulties. Little Hillbrook is part of our school site, close to our Early Years base and part of our whole school community with close links to our Early year’s team.

You will need: -

  • To have experience of working with children with SEN in a primary setting
  • To have relevant experience of the Foundation Stage and experience of working with children with either ASD, significant communication difficulties or developmental delay in the acquisition of social skills
  • To be able to communicate effectively with a range of professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children and their families
  • To be able to show initiative and adapt to challenges when necessary
  • To have vision and the skills necessary to develop your leadership in Little Hillbrook alongside the Little Hillbrook base manager
  • To be a flexible team player who has the ability to motivate, challenge and inspire others
  • To be an excellent communicator and team player who can form positive and meaningful relationships with staff, children, governors, parents and the wider community

What the school offers its staff

Hillbrook Primary School is a very happy and successful learning community where everyone is welcomed and valued. We are a large 3 form entry school based in the heart of Tooting in South West London and very close to both Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway Stations. Our school has a great reputation and we are proud to have strong links to our community.

Little Hillbrook caters for up to 22 FTE pupils aged 2 – 4 who have been identified as needing further support with social communication and language needs. The children attending Little Hillbrook will have a diagnosis or queried diagnosis of ASD/Communication disorder or be under assessment. Little Hillbrook also has a Specialist Base for 7 Reception aged children. This is to prepare children with the skills and abilities to continue to access a base setting or a mainstream alternative. We are proud of our inclusive ethos and commitment to meet the needs of all our pupils.
