Early Years Assistants job summary

Do you believe that Early Years in school should provide the best foundations for future learning?

We are looking for Early Years Assistants to work in our nursery or reception classes from September 2025.

We have opportunities both full-time and part-time for practitioners with NVQ level 2 or 3 or an equivalent qualification who have experience of working with children in the Early Years.

We can provide additional training and support to gain qualifications, as well as future career support.

Our ideal person would be someone who loves being around children, nurturing them to try new things and enjoy everyday at school.

You will greet them each morning with a reassuring smile, supporting them to skip into school excited about the creative and imaginative activities that await them.

You will be at home in the outdoors – whether it is making cakes in the mud kitchen, challenging them over obstacle courses or helping cook sausages on the camp fire at Forest School.

You will love sharing books with them and supporting them to play with their friends, building their language and curiosity to learn.

You will comfort them when needed but be firm and consistent so they feel safe and secure in their surroundings.

Through working with a team who go over and above, you will leave work feeling like you have made a difference each day and have been valued for the part you have played in each child’s development.

If you feel that you are just the person we are looking for, give us a call for a chat or to arrange a visit.

Visits to the school are encouraged and warmly welcomed - email: head.2613@st-john.oxon.sch.uk. Applications should be made through the My New Term website.

We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates upon receiving their application.
