Why come and teach at St Meryl?

There will be many schools advertising teaching posts and anyone looking for a new job or for a school in which to start their teaching career will be able to take their pick. However, St Meryl School is special. This is what we can offer you should you choose to come and join us:

  1. St Meryl School is an exciting place to be-we are positive, proactive and put the children at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to make our school vibrant, stimulating and exciting for our children. We are currently working towards the achievement of the Rights Respecting Schools Award so mutual respect is embedded in all we do. We are excited about what we do. We love working with each other and we love teaching and learning. We are willing to try new things and constantly seeking to move our practice forward. Visitors comment upon the ‘buzz’ they sense when they enter the building. This is the friendly buzz of adults and children working and learning and having fun together.
  2. If appointed you will join a dedicated and close team of teachers and support staff who love being at St Meryl. Coaching partnerships mean that all teachers work together to develop their practice in a supportive manner. We are all on a learning journey together at St Meryl, regardless of how experienced we might be.
  3. If appointed you will have the pleasure of teaching wonderful children who are polite, very well behaved and eager to work hard and learn.
  4. We have a proven track-record of supporting and developing teachers and are committed to staff wellbeing.

St. Meryl is a happy and successful school. Our children are delightful. They are polite, happy and keen to learn. They behave well and they are taught by talented and dedicated teachers who are ably supported by a committed team of support staff. Our parents are very supportive and we have strong links with our local community. We have delightful, extensive grounds and are situated a short walk from Carpenders Park Station. The school is easily accessible from Watford, Harrow and surrounding areas. Please note-despite our name, we are not a church school. We are told that Meryl was the name of the wife of the builder who built the school! Last June we were very proud to receive a "Good" grading from Ofsted.

St Meryl School follows safer recruitment procedures and we are committed to the safeguarding of children. The position is subject to references and a satisfactory check supplied by the Disclosure and Barring Service. The check will include any cautions, reprimands or final warnings as well as convictions.

Commitment to safeguarding

Our organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff, volunteers and trustees to share this commitment.
