What skills and experience we're looking for
Essential
Relevant Childcare Qualification at level 2
Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
Paediatric First Aid
Experience of working within a team / group
Experience of working (paid or voluntary) with children 0-5 years
Work / life experience of inclusion in a diverse society.
Knowledge of child development
Knowledge of EYFS
Awareness of safeguarding children
Awareness of health and safety issues
Ability to observe closely and notice detail
Ability to relate well with parents and children
Ability to work on own initiative and contribute within a team environment
Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in spoken and written English language
ICT literate

Windsor Nursery School is a dynamic learning environment serving children from the richly diverse local community, including children with English as an additional language, eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium and with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We would encourage applicants who have: a keen interest in working with young learners – 2-5 year olds, commitment to inclusion and feel enthusiasm for the opportunities such a diverse community affords.
The successful candidate will have energy and enthusiasm to work with children aged 2-5 years, will be observant and will be motivated to engage in reflective practice and a researching approach. He/she will have a passion for play, learning outdoors and indoors, working as a member of a team and will be an effective communicator with an interest and understanding in child development linked to some relevant work and/or life experiences.
An understanding of and commitment to the principals of Early Childhood Education, Equality of Opportunity and Safeguarding are essential, in addition to an interest in and understanding of special educational needs and the impact of disadvantage on young children.
The successful candidate will hold a flexibility in their thinking, a nurturing approach with both children and families, and relish continually developing a responsive curriculum for children to experience and learn through adventure, risk and challenge. Learning in the outdoors is a key feature at Windsor!
