Early years practitioner (level 3) job summary
The Alton is an inclusive inner London primary school situated next to Richmond Park.
Your main priorities will be to complement the professional work of teachers by taking responsibility for agreed learning activities following the EYFS Curriculum under an agreed system of supervision. This may involve planning, preparing and delivering learning activities for individual or groups of children, or on a short-term basis for whole classes. Working with children to ensure their educational and emotional needs are met and promoting positive behaviour in a nurturing environment. You will establish professional relationships with the new pupils and their families as well as with other staff in the school. You will assist the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management of resources. You will supervise as required whole classes occasionally, during the short-term absence of teachers and contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of The Alton School.
You will need:
- A great personality and good enthusiasm
- Be an excellent, qualified, early years practitioner (level 3)
- Have a sound understanding of the EYFS and the needs of children in the early years
- Be passionate about meeting the needs of all children, including those with SEND
- Be committed to working closely with parents and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills.
- To be proactive, committed, resilient and reliable.
- Ability to Work with the teacher to create stimulating classroom displays and learning resources
- Willingness to provide personal self-care support to pupils
