What skills and experience we're looking for
Due to increased pupil numbers, we are looking to recruit an exceptional Early Years Practitioner to join our Monkeys Childcare team. This role involves working with our youngest children, aged 2–4 years old, and supporting us in providing a warm, nurturing and stimulating early years environment.
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic practitioner who can support high‑quality childcare and early education, and who shares our commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and working in strong partnership with families.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Assist children with settling into routines and confidently support their wellbeing and development.
- Act as a Key Worker for designated children, building strong, positive relationships with them and their families.
- Plan, prepare, evaluate and adapt learning experiences in line with the EYFS and children’s needs.
- Regularly observe and assess children’s progress and use this to inform next steps.
- Promote positive behaviour, values and attitudes, following established policies.
- Create and maintain a safe, stimulating learning environment — setting up, clearing away and ensuring equipment is safe.
- Work collaboratively as part of a professional, motivated team and communicate well with children, parents and colleagues.
- Show flexibility, creativity and a commitment to delivering outstanding childcare.
- Undertake duties that contribute to the effective running of the provision.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Years/Childcare.
- Recent safeguarding training; willingness to obtain Paediatric First Aid quickly if not already held.
- Experience working in an Early Years setting, with understanding of the EYFS and child development.
- Experience supporting children with SEND.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive, professional relationships with families.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.

At Monkspath, our vision is clear: Learning and growing together to be the best that we can be. We are a large, vibrant school with over 700 pupils aged 2–11, and a highly experienced, well-established staff team. We believe that exceptional relationships – with our children, our staff, our families, and the wider community – are the bedrock of all we do. These strong, positive connections underpin our inclusive ethos, high expectations, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing and achievement of every pupil. Our children are enthusiastic, polite, and eager to learn, and our staff team is collaborative, caring, and dedicated to making a difference.
Our school values underpin all that we do in school. Our values are the foundation for how we work together, how we support children’s development and progress in all areas of the curriculum, and how we nurture relationships and personal development.
We aspire great things for our children and promote excellence, not only in core subjects but also through a wide range of rich experiences which enhance learning in the National Curriculum and beyond. We make learning fun, stimulating, challenging and hugely rewarding.
Our school is a caring and diverse community where we foster inner confidence and a strong sense of self-worth. Frequent praise from our families and receiving secondary schools tells us how well equipped our children are, both academically and socially, to make the very best of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. We are extremely impressed by our children as they go through school and move on in life, and we follow their progress with great interest.
We expect kind, responsible behaviour of all our children and this, coupled with academic rigour, makes for a happy, thriving, successful and vibrant school.
