Watling Lower School is looking to appoint an Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our talented support staff team.
We are looking for practitioners with high expectations of pupil achievement and progress.
We are looking for applicants who put the experience of the child at the heart of their practice; someone eager to extend children’s learning and makes learning fun.
The successful candidates would set themselves high personal standards and be eager to develop professionally to support the schools’ creative curriculum approach to learning.
The school is part of Scholars’ Education Trust (SET), an established, cross phase, multi-academy trust formed in 2012. SET has enjoyed measured growth, ensuring maximum educational impact alongside school, a primary school, an extended secondary, two secondary schools and an all-through school. We currently have just over 9,000 pupils in our care.
Staff at Watling Lower School benefit from shared professional development opportunities, collaborative practices, and the expertise of colleagues at Priory Academy, which is also part of the same trust. Priory Academy is the school that most of our Year 4 pupils transition to upon leaving.
Diversity: The Scholars’ Education Trust is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion. We want to attract and retain the very best staff in all areas of the trust, ensuring our staff body reflects the diversity of our students and local community.
Closing date: 9am Monday 2nd March 2026
Interview: TBC
We reserve the right to make an appointment before the closing date, so early applications are encouraged.
Scholars’ Education Trust is an equal opportunities employer. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure Barring Service.
Declaration of criminal offences
The trust is required to give you the opportunity to voluntarily declare convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings that are not ‘protected’ as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013 and 2020). You will be provided with a criminal self-declaration form by the school if you are shortlisted for the post. All posts in schools are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. If you are appointed you will be required to have an up to date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate. The existence of a criminal background does not automatically mean that you cannot be appointed but it may do so.
