Qualifications
- Be a graduate with a degree in Economics or related subject
- Have an appropriate teaching qualification; PGCE or equivalent
Experience and Skills
- Ability to teach Economics at A Level
- Up to date subject knowledge
- Understanding of how students learn and what constitutes effective teaching, learning and assessment
- Very good organisational ability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Qualities
- Enthusiasm for subject and teaching
- Inspire learning and promote student success
- Ability to continuously reflect and evaluate
- Understanding of and affiliation to the 16-19 age group
- Be committed to continuous professional development

Further details about the role
- The Economics department offers A-Level Economics and follows the AQA specification. There are currently 9 first-year classes and 8 second-year classes.
- Examination performance is very strong both in terms of headline results and value added, and the department has a history of some of the highest performance in the College. 2024 A-Level results included: 67.9% A*-B, 97.1% pass rate, ALPS 3. - The department is forward thinking and has a well-developed department portal full of resources to support learning. Microsoft Teams is used to communicate with staff and students, and as a powerful teaching tool. The department is keen to encourage the use of e-learning, prepared booklets and extension reading to meet the individual learning needs of students, and ensure all are supported and challenged.
- There is a focus on students working collaboratively in a supportive environment
- The department currently consists of 5 teaching staff, 4 classrooms, and 1 staff workroom. Staff in the department work closely together with an emphasis on sharing good practice and resources, and regular team meetings, both formal and informal.
- The department run weekly lunchtime workshops and all members of the team contribute to these
- The appointment is on a part to full-time basis. All teachers are expected to act as a personal tutor, to a group of approximately 20 students
- The College day is 8.45 until 4.15 and each teaching period is 45 minutes long

Godalming College is one of the best performing 16-19 colleges in the country and a great place to work and study.
