What skills and experience we're looking for

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure that the Head of SEND & High Needs are kept abreast of legislation and amendments to the SEND Code of Practice and its duty outlined within.

Coordinate the processes and procedures to ensure that AMA meets its duty outlined in the SEND Code of Practice.

Chair EHCP reviews and represent the academy on behalf of Local Authorities.

Prepare EHCP reports and reviews as appropriate.

Monitor performance and progression of the learners with EHCP.

Support with communication between departments.

Attend staff, team and department meetings.

Ensure that EHC Plans are accessible to appropriate staff.

Chair EHCP annual reviews for RNN Learners.

Comply with KCSIE and represent the Group at meetings and reviews as appropriate.

Support colleagues to ensure EHCP learners have identified initial starting points.

Contribute to and use intervention and support strategies to ensure EHCP learner attendance and satisfaction meets college targets.

Identify and deploy intervention and support strategies to ensure no significant outcomes gaps, particularly for EHCP learners.

Contribute and support curriculum to ensure learners are provided with the knowledge, skills and cultural capital they need to overcome social injustice ensuring rich opportunities to develop learners’ broader life skills and citizenship and as outlined in the EHCP outcomes.

Your role in the department:

You will be employed within the SEND Team within the student support services department structure under the overall management of the Head of SEND and High Needs.

You will report directly to the SENCO for professional, personal and organisational direction.

You will take a lead on ensuring that academy works in accordance with its duty outlined within the SEND Code of Practice.

You will manage the EHCP process for the team ensuring that reviews are chaired, attended and noted with reports provided in line with guidance.

You will ensure that learner outcomes are recorded and performance against targets monitored, reviewed and recorded against EHC Plans for review purposes.

You will work closely with the Learning Support Coordinator(s) to ensure that support for learners’ requirements is implemented consistently across academy and in line with learners’ outcomes outlined in EHC Plans.

You will collaborate effectively across the academy, Local Authorities, learners, parents, carers and other stakeholders as and when appropriate and required.
