Education & Pastoral Assistant job summary
As part of The Wensum Trust, we believe that our shared duty is to help every child to develop into high achieving, confident, healthy, caring and resilient members of their family and community. We want our schools to be healthy environments where both children and staff can develop and where strong, positive relationships are key. Our school, therefore, practices a relational approach with children, our families and our communities. We are particularly interested in working with people who share Our Qualities; who will work effectively and flexibly as part of a team.
Kinsale Junior School is a co-educational school for children from 7 to 11 years old, situated in the suburb of Hellesdon in the north-west of Norwich.
We offer a stimulating environment for learning, where every child can thrive and do well. We believe that every child deserves the best education possible and we aim to provide just that. We set out to give children a sense of purpose, encourage their confidence, to enjoy learning and prepare them for the modern world. We view our partnerships with parents and carers as vital for each child's success. With support from home, we feel confident of enabling children to make the most of their opportunities in school and those that lie ahead.
Kinsale Junior School has strong links with the Zoological Society of East Anglia. We have the privilege of working with their staff on many exciting projects both within school and at their zoos. Our curriculum is built around the values of conservation, ecology and sustainability. Our aim is to help our pupils develop the ability to realise their potential, become successful learners, confident individuals and become well-rounded, ecologically aware citizens of the future.
This role is part-time - 17.5 hours per week. We are looking for a dedicated, friendly and resourceful person to join the supportive team of staff; someone to work in the classroom to support teaching and learning. This role will involve working with a class, in small groups and occasionally on a one-to-one basis. Part of this role will involve working alongside our lunchtime supervisory team to support children either on the playground or in the Dining Hall. The successful candidate would be someone who is: creative, shows initiative and enthusiasm, has high expectations, is flexible and able to work as part of team, and is able to 'think outside of the box'.
C Being a part of The Wensum Trust’s family of schools offers employees unique experiences to work alongside our strategic partners and to collaborate with a wider network of staff. We believe in investing in employees as individuals, by providing training opportunities that help to develop both existing and new skill sets, to encourage career progression at all levels.
We value our staff and are committed to supporting their wellbeing. We have an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which all staff can access 24 hours a day. The EAP provides counselling services, legal information and guidance, musculoskeletal services and online resources such as nutrition diaries, healthy eating plans, personal coaching questionnaires and tools and fitness programmes.
We care about bringing together the most able people, to help us achieve our vision of providing a rounded education for children, quality support for their families and opportunities to enrich our communities.
