As an Education Support Assistant you will support the Maths teacher in delivering a wide and varied curriculum to students across the school. You will have a sound understanding of mathematics and be able to work on your own initiative and communicate effectively at all levels. This role will involve:

  • supporting, informing and advising other support staff deployed in Maths lessons to enable them to effectively support students’ learning and communication
  • developing and preparing resources for Maths activities in accordance with lesson plans and in response to student needs;
  • leading on small group activities to ensure exam students are well prepared for entry;
  • being an advocate for the subject so that students are inspired to learn.

You will have a good command of Mathematics, and a good general education including GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 5/C or above in English and Maths.

Valence School is a KCC Foundation residential and day Special School for children and young people with physical disabilities, complex medical needs and associated learning and communication difficulties. The school is set on a beautiful campus on the outskirts of Westerham and is part of the Kent Special Educational Needs Trust (KsENT).

Our school is unique within the maintained sector in the whole of southern England. We cater for students aged 4 to 19 and have both day and boarding places.
