What skills and experience we're looking for

Millthorpe School is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) Learning Mentor, who will liaise with students, families and staff to remove any significant barriers to attending school, and will work with Pastoral and SEN leaders to improve the attendance of identified pupils.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils, families, and other professionals and external agencies to understand and address barriers to school attendance. You will implement strategies and interventions that promote inclusion, improve attendance, and ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

You must have experience of working with children and young people with SEND and/or challenging behaviours, with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and employ strategies which promote good attendance. You will have maths and English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent qualifications, with a further qualification or training related to working with children and young people with additional needs.

The trust will be undertaking a job evaluation exercise in the near future and, therefore, the grade for this position may change.
