What skills and experience we're looking for

If you love teaching engineering and like to collaborate with passionate colleagues, join The JCB Academy and work with a team who are committed to developing the engineers and business leaders of the future.

As a teacher at The JCB Academy you will work with wonderful learners in a school which has an innovative education vision, great links to industry and higher education and fantastic facilities. There will be plenty of opportunities for you to organise and be involved in exciting visits and activities linked to your curriculum, as well as to participate in extra-curricular enrichment days and residential trips, both in the UK and overseas. Teaching experience is not essential; if you have an engineering background, a desire to share your experience and knowledge with young people and a passion to change lives by developing the engineers and business leaders of the future, we would love to hear from you. You will be joining a supportive, enthusiastic and collaborative Engineering Team.

The JCB Academy is defined by a can-do culture and, as a teacher with us, you’ll drive it. Your positivity, subject area authority and energy will make you a role model for learners - it’s something you’ll live up to in every aspect of school life, including extracurricular activities. You’ll foster inclusivity that will enable everyone to reach their potential at The JCB Academy. Your own included!

We offer a benefits package which includes an Employee Assistance Programme (financial guidance, legal enquiries, counselling, support for issues at home and at work); access to Blue Light Card, the UK’s leading discount provider for teachers, emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces; salary sacrifice cycle scheme; interest free financing through BHN Extrasto buy the latest technology through salary deductions, discounted shopping and discounted gift cards and eGifts; access to JCB’s dental scheme (monthly fee); access to the academy’s gym; long service awards (time off and financial rewards) starting at five years; paid time off for birthdays; paid time off for partner’s/child’s significant birthdays.

Please contact the HR Department by email to recruitment@jcbacademy.com or on 01889 506100 if you would like to arrange an informal visit.

What the school offers its staff

The JCB Academy specialises in engineering and business, teaching learners from Y9 to Sixth Form and providing Intermediate (L2) and Advanced (L3) apprenticeship programmes as well as an Engineering T Level. Our approach pairs classroom learning with practical application, and we have an impressive range of world-class industry partners who help with that. JCB, of course, but also including Bosch Rexroth, Harper Adams University, Rolls-Royce and Toyota Motor Manufacturing. Names that can turn heads with learners and lock in their learning engagement.

Situated close to Uttoxeter, you’ll have a picturesque market town on your doorstep and easy access to many independent shops, cafes and bars. Once you’ve explored that, there are plenty of characterful villages and cultural attractions to immerse yourself in as well as great travel links to major cities and ThePeaks. Please contact our HR Team if you would like more information about how our Relocation Assistance Scheme could support you to move to this beautiful part of the country which has an abundance of great-value-for-money housing.
