What skills and experience we're looking for
We have a number of opportunities for individuals who have a passion for inspiring the next generation of engineers and who would like to be part of a world class team of engineering teachers.
Due to the retirement/promotion of existing staff, we are now seeking to appoint Engineering Teachers to join us at the start of our 2023/24 academic year (23 August 2023). These roles are available in pre‑16 (Y9-Y11), Sixth Form and our apprenticeship programmes.
These roles require personal and professional commitment and the ability to work successfully as part of a team is essential. Teaching experience is not essential; if you have an engineering background, a desire to share your experience and knowledge with young people and a passion to change lives by developing the engineers and business leaders of the future, we would love to hear from you. Training will be provided and you will be joining a supportive, enthusiastic and collaborative Engineering Team. If you would like to discuss this informally before submitting an application, please contact the HR Team by email to recruitment@jcbacademy.com.
What the school offers its staff
The JCB Academy develops business leaders and engineers from Y9 to Sixth Form and provides Intermediate (level 2) and Advanced (level 3) apprenticeship programmes. We also deliver an Engineering T-level which provides learners with an additional qualification choice after their GCSEs. Working with the likes of Bosch Rexroth, Harper Adams University, JCB, Rolls‑Royce and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, we ensure that the curriculum is embedded in real industrial practice and includes genuine industrial challenges. Our aim is to provide a world class experience to learners and staff.
We are situated close to Uttoxeter, a picturesque market town supporting a variety of independent shops, cafes and bars. The town is surrounded by characterful villages with an abundance of culture and attractions right on the doorstep. This great value location has quick links to major cities, high quality homes that allow younger people and families to get onto the property ladder and close close access to the glorious Peak District.
