What skills and experience we're looking for
- Be an inspirational teacher passionate about raising school standards and achievement for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities in English and Literacy.
- Have a track record of making a difference to pupil progress and outcomes in English, Literacy and beyond.
- Be an outstanding classroom practitioner.
- Have knowledge of the National Curriculum and how to adapt schemes of work to meet the range of needs of SEND learners.
- Able to deliver a range of qualifications, including GCSE English Language and Literature.
- Have a commitment to extra-curricular activity.
- Be keen to lead our phonics programme (currently in partnership with other staff).
- Be able to lead Woodlane's Dyslexia Friendly approach to raise the literacy standards of our pupils.
- Be a lead in the use of SLCN strategies to support teaching and learning.
- Be keen to share best practice with others through INSET/Outreach.
- Be someone who is highly organised and resilient.
- Be someone who puts
safeguarding and child protection at the centre
The position will include:
- The leadership and teaching of English and Literacy at KS3 and KS4 level.
- The leadership and management of Literacy (including phonics) on a whole school level.
- Supporting staff/pupils/parents to raise achievement in English and Literacy.
- Teaching and preparing pupils for various relevant qualifications in English.
- Providing INSET to staff.
- The delivery of extra-curricular activity.
- Devising EHCPs and hosting Annual Review meetings (not currently required).

Woodlane High School is a successful purpose built community special school for pupils aged 11-16 years. We have an Ofsted rating of 'outstanding'.
We opened, on our present site, by the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham in February 2000 and provide specialist support for pupils with a range of barriers to learning.
