What skills and experience we're looking for
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Mangotsfield Primary English Hub as an English Hub Lead - Audits and Engagement on a fixed-term basis. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed leader with expertise in early reading and phonics to take a key role in delivering school audits, awarding resource funding, and widening engagement with schools across South Gloucestershire, Gloucestershire, and BANES.
As part of our successful DfE English Hub – which has supported over 400 schools since 2018 – you will make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of our core offer. You’ll plan and deliver high-quality audits, oversee the allocation of resource funding, and identify schools who would benefit from future support as part of the English Hub programme.
You will lead and manage the audit process, line manage Literacy Specialists, support financial planning, and provide quality assurance and reporting aligned with DfE expectations. You will also contribute strategically to the Hub’s ongoing growth and impact.
This is a fantastic opportunity to shape early reading development across the region while working in a forward-thinking and collaborative team.
The successful candidate will be:
✅ Hold qualified teacher status
✅ Have a good understanding of the DfE English Hub Programme
✅ Have excellent subject knowledge and understanding of phonics, early reading and reading for pleasure
✅ Have the ability to plan and deliver high quality, innovative professional development which meet the emerging need of schools and leaders in our area
✅ Share a positive vision of children’s education and development especially around the importance of early reading and early language
✅ Ability to use data and feedback to identify areas for improvement and to plan further professional development which results in improvements in educational outcomes
✅ Have a real desire to be a part of a hardworking, supportive and creative team and be motivated to make a real difference
✅ Form positive relationships with adults, schools and stakeholders from a range of settings
✅ Have excellent communication and facilitation skills
