For September 2021, we are seeking an English NQT who has a passion for working with young people and is committed to making a difference to their future. We are looking for someone with high aspirations for all children and a desire to raise standards whilst demonstrating a commitment to their own further development.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels up to and including KS4. The post requires personal commitment of a high level and will offer a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of this flourishing college.
English has an extremely high profile within the College and you will join a well organised and supportive department. We are committed to excellence of achievement and strive to ensure that students reach their full potential at whatever level they are working. A full programme of induction, support and staff development is offered to the successful candidate. We pride ourselves on the quality of the learning environment and you will be able to immerse yourself in your subject fully. We support the career progression of all our staff and encourage and support effective CPD.
St Augustine’s has a tradition of academic achievement, with an ethos that emphasises high quality pastoral care and personal development for all children. Working at our College provides the opportunity to further your professional development as part of a highly experienced and professional team. Willingness to contribute to our extra-curricular programme would be an advantage.
If you join as an NQT you will be part of an established and extensive NQT programme, benefiting from the support and expertise of mentors including Lead Practitioners. All teachers are able to continue developing their pedagogy through accessing our SSAT and TEEP training programmes, and to benefit from collaborations with Clifton diocese, local schools and the international network of Lasallian schools.
The college is located in West Wiltshire, within an easy commute of the cities of Bath and Bristol.
If you are passionate about your subject and have a strong desire to make a difference to young people’s lives, whilst fulfilling your own potential, then we would love to hear from you.

St Augustine’s is amongst the highest performing schools in the country. We
regularly are in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress and achievement (among nonselective schools) at GCSE. We also have a record of high achievement at A level, and an
established record of students accessing their first choice of university, including Russell group and Oxbridge.
As noted in our latest diocesan section 48 inspection in 2020, “The behaviour of pupils is
exemplary, with excellent support and guidance provided by the pastoral team. Pupils have a deep respect for themselves and are acutely alert to the needs of others within and beyond the school community.” The pastoral care at St Augustine’s ensures that our students grow into well-rounded young people, ready to take their place in society. It is our belief that there is much more to school life than the rigour of examinations and we strive to stimulate our students in order that they may become caring, compassionate human beings.
As a Catholic school our values are explicitly Christian. You do not have to be of the Catholic faith to apply for this post, though we are seeking someone who will support our ethos with a high degree of visibility, commitment and energy and who will serve the whole college community academically, pastorally and spiritually. Many staff are involved in co-curricular activities, and the willingness to be involved is an especial recommendation.
