We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our supportive and forward-thinking secondary school. The successful candidates will ideally be able to inspire and excite our students with their knowledge and passion for the subject, fostering a love of literature, and helping learners develop essential language skills.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that motivate and challenge learners of all abilities
  • Assess, track and support student progress effectively
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English department
  • Play an active role in the wider life of the school

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (or equivalent)
  • Has strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
  • Is committed to high standards of teaching and learning
  • Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships with students
  • Is reflective, organised and committed to professional development

🚆 Rail (Train)

  • The town is served by Cranbrook (Devon) railway station, on the West of England Main Line / East Devon Line.
  • Trains provide hourly (or close to hourly) services, linking Cranbrook with Exeter St Davids / Exeter Central and continuing on to destinations like London Waterloo, among others.

🚌 Bus

  • Several bus routes serve Cranbrook, provided by Stagecoach South West (and earlier services) — e.g. route 4, 4A, and 4B.
  • The 4 / 4A link Cranbrook with Exeter, other nearby towns such as Ottery St Mary, Honiton.

🚗 Road & Cycling / Car

  • Cranbrook lies near major roads: it’s roughly 2 km east of the M5 motorway, and north of the A30 road.
  • There is a dedicated cycle / pedestrian link into Exeter via a bridge over the M5 (the Redhayes Bridge), which helps for cycling or walking commutes.
