English Teacher job summary
We are seeking a talented, passionate, and forward‑thinking English Teacher, to join our outstanding team at Stevenage ESC (SESC) as we take the next exciting step in expanding the exceptional support we provide to our local community. You will deliver high‑quality teaching and learning to our students and play a key role in raising aspirations, attainment, and opportunities for young people as they prepare for their next steps in education. This role is an excellent opportunity for a teacher committed to professional growth and could be ideal for an ECT.
As part of the Nexus Herts Federation, SESC has been commissioned by the Local Authority to open a new SEND unit for up to 16 Year 11 students with EHCPs, enabling them to complete their KS4 studies in a supportive, specialised environment. This is a ground‑breaking development, making us the first provision in Hertfordshire to offer such a setting—creating life‑changing opportunities for students who need it most.
In light of the opening of the SEND Unit, we are increasing our staffing provision to support students across both the Centre and the Unit, with staff working across both areas in line with our current practice.
The Nexus Herts Federation comprises two outstanding ESCs; SESC in Stevenage and North Herts ESC (NHESC) in Hitchin and Letchworth. We also work in close collaboration with Rivers ESC, together providing high‑quality provision to more than 150 students across East Hertfordshire. There could be opportunities to work across the collaboration and support with on-going professional development.
Join us as we grow, innovate, and shape the future for the young people in our community.
Full or part-time hours will be considered.
Visits to the Centre are welcomed. If you would like to come and look around, or need any further information, please contact James Anderson on 01438 369119.
Candidates selected for interview will be contacted by 1pm on Friday 15th May 2026
Interviews will be held on Thursday 21st May 2026
