Enhanced SEN Provision Class Teacher job summary
This role is the lead teacher in our ESP - an autism-friendly provision which has 11 spaces for pupils who need an adapted learning environment and approach within our mainstream infant school. The majority of the pupils attending the ESP have an EHCP, and planning and teaching needs to be planned to cover the outlined provision. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the direction of the provision and bring new ideas and skills to our team. The role involves managing a team of teaching assistants, so evidenced experience in leading and directing a team is essential. The provision is over-seen and supported by our SENCO.
The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality, engaging teaching that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of all pupils in our ESP (Enhanced SEN Provision). You will create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where children are encouraged to be curious, confident, and resilient learners. As a class teacher, you will plan and deliver learning across the day which is well-structured and appropriately pitched to meet the needs of all pupils, supporting their progress across the curriculum. You will use the Engagement Model to assess and develop next steps for each child. You will work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure each child receives the support they need to thrive. You will carry out your duties in line with the Teachers’ Standards and the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document, maintaining a strong focus on safeguarding, promoting children’s well-being, and upholding the values and expectations of the school community.
