What the school offers its staff

Cheadle Hulme Primary School first opened in September 2018 and has been going from strength to strength ever since!

We are part of the Laurus Trust, a family of schools with a vision “for everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.”

Cheadle Hulme Primary School is a hugely oversubscribed, non-selective, non-denominational, two form entry primary school with two classes in each year as well as a pre-school. We are co-located with our sister secondary, Laurus Cheadle Hulme High School.

In our very first Ofsted inspection in January 2023, Cheadle Hulme Primary School was judged Outstanding for the Personal Development of pupils and Early Years and Good overall.

‘The curriculum gives pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding to be confident learners in a wide range of subjects. Pupils achieve well.’ - Ofsted, 2023

At Cheadle Hulme Primary School we strongly believe that it is our responsibility to, "prepare our children for a world we know and a world yet to be discovered" and we do this through a broad, balanced and ambitious school curriculum.

As well as being unashamedly academic, Laurus schools focus on developing each pupil’s self-confidence and oracy skills. We inspire our pupils to broaden their horizons and to believe that ‘anything is possible’ because we understand that this is the key to post-education success.

Professional Development

We attach huge importance to continued Professional Learning and recognise that, in the exciting and ever-changing environment in which we work, we are all learners and are constantly looking for ways to improve our practice.

Our comprehensive programme of in-house Professional Learning comprises weekly pedagogy-based sessions, Action Research Communities, Further Professional Learning sessions and opportunities to coach and mentor.

As a Trust we actively develop our teachers through accredited programmes such as National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) and many of our staff have completed study at Masters level.

Being part of a Multi Academy Trust enables our staff to collaborate across schools and phases. Not only does this broaden their experience, it opens up a wider range of leadership and development opportunities.

Multi-academy trust

The Laurus Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), committed to providing exceptional academic education to its family of schools across Stockport, Manchester, Tameside, and Cheshire East. Cheadle Hulme High School is the founding school of the Laurus Trust and was rated ‘Outstanding’ in the school’s last inspection and regularly features in the The Times and The Sunday Times Parent Power listing. The Trust’s commitment to excellence is evident not only at its founding school, but also in the outstanding achievements of Laurus Ryecroft, Laurus Cheadle Hulme, Didsbury High School, and Gorsey Bank Primary School – all receiving the top rating from Ofsted in their most recent inspections.

The Laurus Trust is continually growing, managing a comprehensive network of four primary schools, six high schools, and four established Sixth Forms. Their commitment to growth continues in September 2024 with the opening of Crown Street Primary School, the first new primary school in Manchester City Centre in nearly two decades.
