Estates and Premises Manager job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, positive, and capable Estates and Premises Manager to join our team. You will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our school premises and grounds, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
About the RoleAs Premises Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day upkeep, care, and maintenance of the school estate under the guidance of the Headteacher and with support from our Central Facilities Team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the school’s facilities, health and safety, and compliance requirements.
- Acting as a key holder and ensuring site security, including out-of-hours emergencies.
- Liaising with contractors and cleaning teams to maintain high standards.
- Undertaking minor repairs, maintenance, and redecoration.
- Supporting the delivery of construction and refurbishment projects.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and takes pride in their work. While no formal trade qualifications are required, previous experience in a similar role would be highly advantageous. You will need:
- A practical approach and willingness to carry out physical tasks (lifting, shifting, clearing snow, etc.).
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, hygiene procedures, and COSHH regulations.
- Good decision-making skills and flexibility to adapt to a busy school environment.

The role is based on 37.5 hours per week, but specific hours of work will be negotiable upon appointment of the successful candidate. There will be a need to include Monday to Friday for school opening at a minimum.
