What the school offers its staff

At Norris Bank Primary School we expect our children to achieve the highest possible standards according to their ability, to develop their talents to the full, and to become more sensitive, confident and positive members of society. For every child to be inspired to fulfil their own unique potential, to develop confidence, independence and resilience for the life ahead of them in a nurturing, supportive and dynamic school environment at the heart of the local community.

We work hard to create a nurturing atmosphere where each member of the school feels safe and valued. We aim to develop respect for each other and ourselves and to promote positive self-esteem and self-confidence. Norris Bank encourages everyone to excel by setting high expectations for behaviour and achievement in a stimulating environment. We provide a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum. This enables all children to develop a wide range of knowledge, skills and understanding, to demonstrate their strengths and address areas for development with confidence. Our children tell us that they find their lessons interesting, and we encourage our teachers to deliver lessons in innovative and engaging ways. We have worked hard to achieve the Silver Award in Science, gained in conjunction with the University of Manchester. This gives children the opportunity to deepen their scientific learning.

We welcome and celebrate the diversity of the school community and celebrate the ‘uniqueness’ of each child. We foster an appreciation, understanding and respect for all cultures, races and religions. The children tell us they are proud that we are such an inclusive school.

At Norris Bank Primary School, as in each Laurus Trust school, our ethos derives from a firm belief that all pupils are entitled to an outstanding state education, incorporating learning and enrichment opportunities which we offer through our Academic and Enrichment Curriculum.
