Evening Cleaner job summary
We are seeking to appoint a new permanent Evening Cleaner to join our Cleaning and Caretaking team responsible for cleaning the school to ensure a safe environment for staff and pupils. The post is required to start from 3 November or as close to that date as possible subject to the necessary employment checks. The post is for up to 20 hours per week, ideally 4 hours per day., working Monday to Friday each week during term time only. The hours will be worked at the end of the school day between 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Empty waste bins and transport waste to designated collection points
- Sweep floors with brushes or dust control mops
- Mop floors with wet or damp mops
- Suction and spot clean carpeted areas
- Use electrically powered scrubbing and polishing machines to clean floors after receiving proper instruction and training
- Dust, damp wipe or polish furniture, ledges, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments
- Replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels etc)
- Clean staff and pupil toilets, urinals, hand basins, sinks and drinking fountains
- Use chemical agents as directed after receiving proper instruction and training
- Periodically undertake wall washing and inside window cleaning to a height no greater than body height plus an arms extension from floor level
- When working in food technology areas, clean cookers and work surfaces
- Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines where appropriate
- Any other reasonable request as directed by the Cleaning Manager
An ability to interact with teaching staff, members of the public and pupils is essential, as well as an ability to work as part of a team and independently using your own initiative. Full induction and training in the use of all cleaning equipment and procedures will be provided. Flexibility to work additional hours when needed to cover for absent colleagues would be an advantage, but not essential.
Employment will be subject to enhanced clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service, receipt of references and completion of a satisfactory 3 month probationary period. Cirencester Deer Park School is a no smoking site and all staff are required to comply with a Code of Conduct for school staff.
