About the role
Casual contract, term time only
To assist in the setting up of the examination room(s).
To ensure the correct candidates are in the correct place.
To maintain security and confidentiality, ensuring that they do not discuss examinations which have been held at the Academy.
To assist in the opening and distributing of examination papers.
To ensure candidates have the required stationery/equipment they need in the examination.
To ensure no inappropriate items are brought into the examination, such as mobile phones, personal stereos, revision notes or other items of stationery unless otherwise notified.
Ensure late candidates are briefed, seated and allowed to partake in the examination with minimum disruption.
To distribute additional paper/equipment as required.
To respond to any questions candidates may have during the examination but not to assist candidates in their answers.
To supervise candidates in a quiet and unobtrusive manner.
To supervise any candidates who may need to leave the room in accordance with examination regulations.
To supervise ‘clash’ candidates between examinations.
Ensure examination conditions are maintained until candidates are dismissed from the room.
Collect examination papers in attendance register order.
Ensure examination papers are never left unattended and are safely delivered to the Examination Officer.
Ensure everything is collected from examination desks.
Ensure examinations are conducted in accordance with the JCQ instructions booklet and Academy policies and procedures are adhered to.
To assist candidates with approved access arrangements such as a reader, scribe, prompter.

Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will ideally:
- Have experience of working with young people aged 11-19 in a secondary school
- Have a willingness to undertake further work-related training
- Have good ICT skills or be willing to learn (including using Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Have knowledge and understanding of strategies to overcome barriers to learning, and poor behaviour and/or have a willingness to work with a team who leads behaviour modifications
- Can work flexibly as part of a team
- Good organisation, time management, communication and interpersonal skills
- Be willing to undertake first aid training
- Have a commitment to inclusion
- Help foster a culture of high expectations
- Have a commitment to the school’s ethos and vision
- Be able to establish strong relationships with students and staff
- Model professional standards across all areas of work.
- Administer daily welfare check each morning with the families of all vulnerable pupils who are absent that morning and record the details of the conversations.
- To conduct home visits where appropriate and always with another DRET colleague
- To work with individual pupils and their family in setting targets for improved attendance and reviewing success on a regular basis, always intervening to sustain improvement
- To conduct daily attendance checks for pupils attending alternative providers and hospital schools on the one allocated attendance day.

The Charles Read Academy is an 11-16 school in Corby Glen, Lincolnshire and it serves the villages between Stamford, Bourne and Grantham.
