About us
Leeds Mathematics School (LMaS) (www.lmas.ac.uk) is a brand-new specialist sixth form college for high-attaining mathematicians in the Leeds city and West Yorkshire region. All LMaStudents study Mathematics and Further Mathematics A-Levels. In Year 12 they study two of Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Mandarin Chinese, and in Year 13 they continue one of these to A level.
Our unique, enriched curriculum prepares our students for the next stage of their educational journey. We support them to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes that will enable and empower them to make significant future contributions to this region, to their communities, and to global society. We are committed to ensuring that every LMaStudent achieves highly and leaves LMaS with many and meaningful choices available to them: in their learning, in their careers, in their lives.
We moved into our stunning new school in November 2023. This is located in the heart of Leeds, on The Headrow. The facilities for teaching and learning are exceptional, to support our evidence-led and research-informed curriculum and pedagogy. Our ongoing professional development is central to the vision, purpose and day-to-day practice of LMaS.
We welcomed our first cohort of 70 students in September 2023. One third are female or female-identifying, and one third are from the most disadvantaged postcodes in the region. We are determined to increase both these proportions.
